It is time to get back into blogging after a great Christmas break. We had an amazing family Christmas, with lots of memories created. BUT it is time to reflect and move into 2009. Here is my year in review.
Top 8 things I did or experienced in 2008:
1. Started planning and implementing a church plant (All year - but especially these last 6 months).
2. Moved our family across the country to Ottawa.
3. Refocused my personal mission to making disciples who are passionately in love with Jesus and impacting the world around them.
4. After our 3rd season the Wingnuts won the Championship (rec. hockey).
5. Water Sliding with the family at the Wisconsin Dells, the Vegas of kid fun.
6. Becoming a hockey dad.
7. Had my thinking about the gospel deepened and enriched ten times over by Tim Keller through numerous mp3s, articles and the odd blog comment (throughout the year)
8. Attending a Cubs game in Chicago, eating deep dish pizza, and smoking a Mike Ditka cigar. What a weekend.
Other honorable mentions include attending Kari's brothers wedding in Phoenix, golfing with Kellan for the first time, going mac...
Top 8 Books I read in 2008 (In no particular order)- The Reason for God and Prodigal God - Tim Keller (Yes that is 2 books)
- Jesus Wants to Save Christians - Rob Bell
- The End of Religion - Bruxy Cavey
- Crazy Love - Francis Chan
- The Words of Jesus - Phyllis Tickle
- Tribes - Seth Godin
- Re-Jesus - Frost and Hirsh
- The Present Future - Reggie McNeal
It’s been the year with the biggest changes in my life to date. We are anticipating a great 2009 as the church is launched, lives are transformed, and God is glorified. Bring on 2009!
Great read, noted all of it
